Cooking from the Depression

I am finally home; 29 days ago I jumped on a plane to Scotland.  Since that time, I’ve been home for only 4 or 5 days and have taken 3 days off.  Most days have been very long, very fulfilling and I have learned a lot.  I am very excited to be back at home, seeing family, friends and my teams at work and have some regular time to update postings here.

I have a soft spot for food from the Great Depression.  I will share more stories on what this means to me at a later date – wonderful comfort food such as Cream Peas on Toast, Tomato Soup Spaghetti, Spam and – yes – Lobster (I will explain this odd choice at a later date).

Allow me to introduce Clara; she is a much better authority on this subject than I am; she’s a 93-year old Great Grandmother who lived through the era the first time around.  She also has a charming set of videos on YouTube which appear to be in HD, play well on a full screen and have been produced to a near-professional level.  Check out the video below for a few quick stories and a recipe on cooking Egg Drop Soup:
