Food, Inc Opens Today

There have been many food-based movies and documentaries in recent years.  Super Size Me dates back to 2004.  In 2006 we were offered a bite out of Fast Food Nation. King Corn (2007) chronicled the journey of two men trying to grow an acre of corn and track it to the table.

While each of the previous movies garnered some attention, the awareness around food is ripe for a new kind of harvest.  We have started to realize that the topic is relevant to us beyond a good laugh or reserved for extremists fleeing to the hills.  The timing for a long, honest and productive look at our food (and what we can do about it) is at hand.

Food, Inc premieres in most major cities today. We are heading to see it on Monday.  I am so hopeful this will open many meaningful conversations, thoughts and balanced action to support what is largely natural to us – eating what we need and when we need it while leaving a minimal mark behind.
